A Lovely Day

A lovely day, a sun-filled day
Frost had alighted briefly on the dawn grass
And is now away.
The trees are bare
Already a couple of weeks ago,
They cast aside their Fall finery.

A lovely day—cloudscapes gone to the softest blue.
Time for a walk down to the beach
Healthy living on a winter day.
White sand—great swollen breakers
Roll in from Sweden.
Impossible to see the horizon
Where blue meets gray
On this loveliest of lovely days.
