"Florida's Southern Clime"

Florida's Southern Clime

In Florida's southern clime
Where it rains most any time
And steam, its humid flow
Where jungle and gardens grow

The Pine and the Rose
With the Orchid, shines and glows
With the Orange blossom tree
And the gently humming Bumble Bee

The croaking frogs at night
And the bugs, in their respite
While Chimney Swifts delight
In their evening meal in flight

Mid-air, Swifts turn, abrupt
Their beaks upturned and cupped
Like a farmer in harvest moon
Reaping black-eyed peas and coon

The Bear, Panther and wild Boar
The Alligator along lakes' shore
All energized by winter rime
In Florida's southern clime
